HKISC Junior Academy
Sing. Share. Glow
Our mission is to provide progressive, performance-oriented choral education for young singers, fostering core values, community service and a lifelong love for music.
Building on the success of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choir (HKISC), the Junior Academy is a new initiative catering to the critical early years, where musical foundations, confidence and values begin to take root. Young children are remarkably impressionable, and the training they receive at this age leaves a lasting impact.
Guided by the motto “Sing. Share. Grow.”, the programme develops young singers who perform with joy, share their love of music with others, and grow in character through the experience.
Year-long (35-week) training blending Dalcroze, Kodály and Orff: whole-body rhythm, pitch, literacy as a base to develop a choral foundation
From concert halls to amusement parks, the opportunity to shine on stage awaits
Interact and be inspired by our visiting artists
Ongoing values-based sharing with children and parents
Certificate and letter of reference upon satisfactory completion
Priority audition for a place in HKISC Primary Division
OUR CORE VALUES

Cultivating curiosity to explore the rich world of music

Fostering a sense of community by working together towards a shared goal

Building confidence through performing in a safe and supportive environment

Frequently asked questions
The event welcomes the participation of primary and secondary school choirs, kindergarten choirs, children’s and youth choirs (aged 18 or below), as well as community choirs from Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
The Teacher-in-Charge or Person-in-Charge must first register as an HKICF school or organisation member. After approval (usually 5 – 10 days), they can then use the member portal to sign up the choir for events. The registration deadline is 30 September 2025 at 6:00 PM.
The Event will be held at Ocean Park. HKICF will sponsor up to 50 student tickets for each Hong Kong choir, with a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:10 (one adult ticket provided for every 10 students). If student participation exceeds 50 members, schools/organisations will need to purchase additional tickets at HK$80 each. Non-local participants will be charged HK$250 per member.
Yes, all participants can access Ocean Park facilities on the day of their performance, both before and after their participation in the Choral Carnival Day activities. The organiser is not responsible for any issues that arise; participants who use the park facilities are responsible for their own safety and for safeguarding their belongings.
Each choir will:
- Perform an 8-10 minute programme
- Watch performances by other choirs
- Exchange with other choirs, including music games, song-learning
Performing choirs must arrange for an accompanist if accompaniment is necessary.
If there is rain on the event day, all performances will take place at the dedicated main venue. In the case that the Education Bureau announces the suspension of classes due to weather or other reasons, requiring performing choirs to cancel all activities, performance session(s) may be canceled with no rescheduling.
HKICF will not make any further announcements regarding canceled performance session(s) due to the above reason. If a performance session is canceled for any reason, HKICF retains the discretion to decide whether alternative performance session(s) will be organised. HKICF reserves all rights to transfer, modify, or cancel any performance-related arrangements. HKICF will not provide refunds under any circumstances.
One music stand, piano and piano stool will be provided. Unless otherwise stated, no other equipment, such as power, will be provided at the Performance venue. All other instruments must be provided by the performing choirs.
There are no predetermined pieces for the performances. Performing choirs are required to clear copyright matters for their repertoires. The organisers will not assume any responsibility and the choirs will bear all responsibilities relating to such failure. Performing choirs have the freedom to select their own repertoire, which may encompass any language, voicing (including unison), and length. Original compositions are welcome, provided that the score is available. Each choir’s performance must not exceed ten minutes.
Choirs should attend according to the announced schedule. If attendance falls more than 20% below the registered number (for example, a choir of 60 with more than 12 absent members) without a valid reason, or if a choir cancels or is absent without reason on the day of the Event, HKICF will charge the school the full-price child admission fee (HK$269 per person) for the total number of participating students, and the school will not be eligible to participate in other activities organised by HKICF in the following year.
Unfortunately, you do not have the option to specify a date for the performances. HKICF is responsible for determining the date, time, order, and location of the performance sessions. However, participating schools do have the opportunity to suggest preferred performance dates and provide reasons during the application period. These suggestions are taken into consideration by HKICF as a reference. For instance, schools can request to avoid scheduling performances on specific dates to prevent conflicts with school exams. HKICF will strive to accommodate these requests to the best of their ability. It’s important to note that due to the large number of participating schools, it may not be possible for HKICF accomodate the request of every school.
Performing choirs should confirm their participant numbers at registration time. Before November 1, successfully registered choirs may increase their membership (up to a maximum of 50 tickets sponsored by the organization) but cannot decrease it. HKICF will not refund fees for reduced participation.
Yes. Parents need to purchase tickets to enter the park and watch the performances. The parent special package ticket costs HK$280 per person.
