Our mission is to provide progressive, performance-oriented choral education for young singers, fostering core values, community service and a lifelong love for music.
Building on the success of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choir (HKISC), the Junior Academy is a new initiative catering to the critical early years, where musical foundations, confidence and values begin to take root. Young children are remarkably impressionable, and the training they receive at this age leaves a lasting impact.
Guided by the motto “Sing. Share. Grow.”, the programme develops young singers who perform with joy, share their love of music with others, and grow in character through the experience.

Frequently asked questions
There are significant differences in terms of character development, repertoire, and early childhood leadership training. The HKISC Junior Academy (HKISCJA) delivers a holistic music education designed specifically to nurture the impressionable early years of childhood development. Rather than focusing on repetitive technical drills, our unique curriculum incorporates character education directly into music training, embedding essential values like empathy, team synergy, and resilience into our weekly choral rehearsals. To make learning deeply accessible and musically rewarding, students perform tailor-made original pieces written specifically for early childhood by our Resident Composer, which are perfectly engineered for young vocal ranges and developmental stages. Furthermore, the ensemble framework introduces leadership training for holistic development from a young age, teaching young children to listen actively, communicate confidently, and work collaboratively toward shared artistic goals.
Yes. In February or March, the Academy will host a Progress Report session and a Mini Performance. This gives parents a direct opportunity to witness their child’s musical growth, vocal development, and stage confidence in a supportive environment.
Academy members enjoy an enriching, performance-oriented curriculum featuring high-profile staging opportunities throughout the year:
- Choral Carnival Day: An immersive, high-energy festival celebrating collaborative singing and community music-making.
- Guest Choir Appearances: Elite opportunities to perform alongside and learn from renowned local and international guest choirs at formal concert venues.
- Virtual Choir Project: An innovative digital media production that allows young singers to record music videos and engage with social and community causes globally.
To ensure systematic and internationally recognised benchmark training, each division undergoes structured assessments. We proudly incorporate the ABRSM Music Medal Assessment into our curriculum, providing a rewarding framework for young singers to measure their progressive musicianship and ensemble skills.
Yes. Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded an official certificate.
