HKICF2025 Choral Carnival Day, a new initiative of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival, offers a rare opportunity for Hong Kong school choirs to engage directly with the community through public performances. The event aims not only to showcase excellent school choir performances and boost the confidence of choir members but also to promote arts appreciation and education.

Most school choirs in Hong Kong can benefit from more performance opportunities, and Choral Carnival Day serves as a platform for school choirs to do so. With 30 primary and secondary school choirs and over 1,500 student choristers participating, the event promises to be a day filled with captivating musical performances enjoyed by both the performers and the audience alike.

Moreover, the Choral Carnival Day will allow school choirs in Hong Kong to explore a broader repertoire beyond the confines of traditional competition pieces. While choral competitions often restrict the selection of music, the Choral Carnival Day offers a non-competitive setting where students can revel in the joy of choosing and performing a variety of repertoire. This exposure not only nurtures a deeper passion for choral singing but also fosters a greater appreciation for the arts, contributing to the continued growth and development of school choirs.

As an integral outreach programme of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival, the Choral Carnival Day will play an instrumental role in introducing the art of choral music to a wider audience. By providing school choirs with the opportunity to perform in a public setting, the event enriches the cultural landscape of the city and aligns with the government’s vision of positioning Hong Kong as a vibrant cultural hub.
