Virtual Choir Project

Since its inception in 2022, the Virtual Choir Project has received enthusiastic support from students, teachers, parents and the general public. The project aims to raise public awareness and support for social issues and underprivileged groups through choral music. Partnering with different NGOs each year, the project spreads love, care, and positive energy to the public through online choral singing.

To mark HKICF’s 10th anniversary, VCP2027 will center around the theme of “Celebration”, featuring a brand-new anniversary theme song about unity composed by our Founder and Artistic Director, Mr. Kelvin Lau. Through the project, we will reflect on a decade of empowering youth through choral education. This milestone honours our shared journey and looks toward a future of even deeper community connection.

The theme song will be sung throughout the major HKICF2027 programme—from Competition Cum Masterclass sessions to choral concerts. Participants of these programmes will sing together excerpts of the theme song, which will be recorded. All these singing clips will be put together to make a signature 10th-anniversary music video for HKICF, conveying a resonant message of solidarity.

School choirs, community choirs, and choral enthusiasts are also welcome to record and perform the full song individually, and send the video recording to us to be edited into the final VCP music video. Sing together—join us in this milestone celebration!

MOVE!

2026

The Virtual Choir Project 2026 took “Sports and Health” as its theme, attracting more than 2,500 participants from over 50 schools and community choirs to join. We are honoured to be supported for the first time by The Hongkong Bank Foundation, and had InspiringHK Sports Foundation as our Collaborative Partner, “Every Life Is A Song” as our Creative Partner, composing the theme song MOVE!, and the TWGHs Kitty Woo Music Development Centre as our Project Coordination Partner. Also, we had the Greater Bay Philharmonic Orchestra and Rugby For Good as our Supporting Organisations. Together, we wish to promote the joy of movement and the power of music as twin pathways to health and wellness.

We Sing

2025

The Virtual Choir Project presented “We Sing”, which involved over 2,000 students from 48 primary and secondary schools. We were proud to work with MindHK, Hong Kong’s leading mental health charity, as our collaborative partner to raise awareness about youth mental health through music. Supporting the project was Every Life is a Song, whose founders, renowned artists Ms. Vicky Fung and Prof. Chow Yiu Fai, created the theme song for this impactful community endeavour.

Love’s Boundless Flight

2024

We are proud to collaborate with the charity New Sight, supporting the remarkable mission of a Hong Kong physician in the Republic of Congo, Africa, to restore and protect sight through operating an eye hospital. The project has attracted nearly 50 school choirs, over 2000 students to join.

聽不到的愛

2023

We partnered with the Children’s Cancer Foundation in 2023, with more than 2,200 students from 60 secondary and primary schools singing together to show their support and encouragement for children with cancer. It was the first time to collaborate with charities to organise the virtual choir project, hoping to use this opportunity to spread the message of love and care through singing.

每一個明天

2022

During Covid-19, in order to enable local primary and secondary students to continue their learning while schools were closed, and to support frontline healthcare workers, HKVC organised its first Virtual Choir Project on an individual basis. This new initiative allowed students to sing with others virtually, to encourage the continuous learning, resulting in enthusiastic participation from over 1,500 students. Their voices were compiled into a music video, aiming to connect society through choral music and to express gratitude and encouragement to all those who remained committed to their roles during the pandemic, fighting for the well-being of the people of Hong Kong.
