Dr. Nicole Chan

2027

Praised as “Outstanding Artist” at Opera Hong Kong’s 2026 Gala, Nicole Chan is a soprano, choral conductor, and music educator active across voice, piano, and harp. Committed to giving back to the Hong Kong community, she teaches students of all ages and levels, drawing on her international experience in Italy, Canada, and Denmark. She has conducted university-level ensembles, including the Schulich Singers, and collaborates with soloists and choirs across diverse repertoire. She performs regularly on international opera stages.

Her work draws on her doctoral research on foreign-language diction in Western vocal repertoire for Cantonese and Mandarin-speaking singers, a focus she continues to develop through workshops and masterclasses. Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and conversant in Danish, Italian, German, French, and Shanghainese, she brings a cross-cultural perspective and refined artistic insight to her educational and conducting work.

Dr. Chan holds a Doctor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Graduate Certificate in Choral Conducting from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music. She earned a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, graduating with highest distinction. In addition, she holds an MBA from the Global Leaders Institute and is a recipient of the Li Ka Shing Foundation–Opera Hong Kong Young Artist Overseas Fellowship.
