Internationally renowned conductor Elise Bradley believes that building a choir where the music can truly win requires a clear, practical approach that supports young singers’ growth and confidence. In this interactive workshop, senior primary music educators and choir conductors will explore her four-pillar framework, namely Sound Concept, Gesture, Repertoire and Rehearsal Technique.
Participants will begin with Sound Concept, focusing on vocal pedagogy that helps children develop healthy habits and a shared sense of tone, breath, diction, and listening. Elise will then move to Gesture, showing how teacher and conductor movement can clarify musical ideas for young performers, supporting tempo, dynamics, entrances, releases, and phrasing without confusion. Next, the workshop will address Repertoire, including ways to unpack pieces effectively for senior primary students so they understand text, rhythm, style, and musical meaning early in the rehearsal process. Finally, Elise will share Rehearsal Technique strategies for creating momentum in rehearsal, using coaching language and repeatable routines that help students fix issues efficiently.
Throughout the session, attendees will discuss common senior primary choir challenges, observe practical demonstrations, and work through guided rehearsal scenarios to help them apply the four pillars immediately with their own choirs.
