Monica Yu has dedicated over a two decades to the music education sector in Hong Kong. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Arts in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Bristol. To further enrich her pedagogy, she pursued advanced studies at the Kodály Institute in Hungary, Mozarteum Salzburg University in Austria, and Institut Jaques-Dalcroze in Switzerland.
Upon returning to Hong Kong, she committed herself to advancing school music curricula and promoting early childhood music education, previously serving as a music teacher at Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School.
An active figure in the choral and educational community, Monica has served as a guest conductor for the DGSingers and is frequently invited as a guest speaker for various arts education events. She has also been invited to share her pedagogical insights at Diocesan Girls’ Junior School and A.D. & F.D. of Pok Oi Hospital Mrs. Cheng Yam On School.
Monica currently serves as an Artist-in-Residence Curriculum Consultant and a teaching practicum supervisor for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, dedicating her expertise to nurturing the next generation of music educators.
