Prof. Heike Henning is a Professor of Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy at the Department of Music Pedagogy Innsbruck of the University Mozarteum Salzburg. She is the founder and director of the Center for Choral Pedagogical Research and Practice at the Haus der Musik in Innsbruck, an institution of the University. Her research focuses on choral pedagogical practice, transcultural and inclusive music-making settings, and didactic research in instrumental and vocal development.
Through her academic work and professional practice, Professor Henning has taught music, instrumental and vocal pedagogy as well as children’s choral conducting at various universities and music colleges in Germany. As a children’s choir conductor and choir educator, she is an internationally sought-after expert and shares her expertise through numerous workshops and further training courses in Germany, Austria, and abroad. She is also a frequently invited jury member for choir and choral composition competitions as well as singing festivals at home and internationally.
Currently, Professor Henning conducts several choirs across different genres and contexts, including the intergenerational choir Chorgemeinschaft ConTakt e.V. in Nuremberg, Germany, with its children’s, youth, and mixed choirs. She also leads the transcultural choir groups of the Austrian Grenzklang project in Innsbruck, which she founded and of which she serves as artistic, educational, and scientific director.
