An active member in the music and education fields in Hong Kong as a conductor, piano accompanist, and chorister, CHAN Chun Ho headed several school music departments and led their orchestras and choirs to perform in mainland China, South Korea, Sweden and beyond with warm acclaim. Notable accolades include the Category Champion, Gold Award, and Outstanding Conductor Award with Belilios Public School Choir at the World Youth & Children’s Choir Festival (Hong Kong) in 2017; a Gold Medal in Youth Mixed Choirs with SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School Choir at the 12th World Choir Games (Gangneung, South Korea) in 2023, and the title of the Best Secondary School Junior Choir in the First Division with St. Paul’s Co-educational College Treble Choir at the 77th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2025. Gladly recognised by the Education Bureau by multiple invitations to demonstrate at teacher’s workshops, participate in video recordings and cross-border tours, he also taught at Sacred Heart Canossian College, Hong Kong Children’s Choir and the Music Office.
Besides several inter-school music initiatives, Chan has also co-founded youth choral groups Aqua Voice and Carmel Pak U Secondary School Alumni Choir as a conductor, collaborated closely with ensembles such as The Greeners’ Sound and sung in Die Konzertisten. He has actively contributed to premieres, performances and album recordings of Hong Kong choral works, both locally and overseas, where he included a new composition by Prof. Victor Chan and a Cantonese work by Singaporean composer Leong Yoon-pin into the programmes of his choirs in their British, Italian and Vatican appearances during his postgraduate studies in choral conducting at Royal Holloway, University of London. Chan also read music at The Chinese University of Hong Kong where he majored in piano and organ.
Over the years, he has had the privilege of conducting the works of John Rutter and Vytautas Miškinis under their guidance, and singing under the baton of Jaap van Zweden, Thomas Adès, Helmuth Rilling, Stephen Layton, and Jonathan Cohen.
