Choral Repertoire Reading Session

HKICF 2026’s new initiative, the Choral Repertoire Reading Session, invites composers to share their works with conductors and music teachers in Hong Kong to expand school choirs’ repertoires and promote new choral pieces. For the inaugural sessions, two renowned composers, Warren Lee (Board Member of HKVC and Steinway Artist) and Dr. Chan Kai-Young (Associate Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong), will be featured. The Teachers’ Choir will participate as the demonstration choir, singing the composers’ pieces under their direction, while participants explore the works and gain practical insights on musical structure, stylistic characteristics, and faithful interpretation of lyrics. Participants will also receive excerpts of the music covered during the session, enriching their choral resources.

The sessions also offer a valuable opportunity for non Teachers’ Choir members to experience what the choir is like and to consider future participation.
