Ms. Monica Yu is a dedicated music educator with over a decade of experience in Hong Kong schools. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal music from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Music degree from Hong Kong Baptist University. Her passion for music education led her to further her studies at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary and the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze in Switzerland.
Upon her return to Hong Kong, Ms. Yu committed herself to advancing music education in local schools, with a particular emphasis on early childhood music education. Her influence extends beyond the classroom, as she was invited to speak at one of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival 2023 workshops, where her session titled “Dialogue with Music Teachers: Learning Activities for Both Classrooms and Choirs” drew the participation of over 50 teachers. She also served as a guest speaker for the “School Choir Incubator Program”, an extension programme of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival.
Ms. Yu’s expertise has been sought after by various educational institutions. She has shared her teaching experience at esteemed institutions such as Diocesan Girls’ Junior School and A.D. & F.D. of Pok Oi Hospital Mrs Cheng Yam On School. Her unwavering dedication and impactful contributions continue to shape the landscape of music education in Hong Kong.
