Opening Showcase Concert

For a first in the festival’s history, HKICF will open with a showcase concert featuring outstanding choirs from eight primary and secondary schools. In this opening showcase concert, Mr. Kelvin Lau will serve as the conductor and lead primary school choirs to perform a commissioned song, “Love’s Boundless Flight”, composed by renowned jazz pianist Ms. Joyce Cheung. It is our pleasure to have Ms. Cheung herself perform with the choir at this exciting world premiere of the song. The secondary school choirs will perform another commissioned piece, “A New Day”, composed by the Chorus Director of Opera Hong Kong, Mr. Alex Tam.

We are also honoured to invite The Hon Kenneth FOK Kai-kong, JP, member of the Legislative Council (Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication) and Chairman of Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and Mrs. KWOK WONG Wing-ki, Vicki, JP, Deputy Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism to be the officiating guests at the event. They will give a speech at the festival opening to encourage our students to continue developing their talent in choral music, celebrating their contributions to the art and culture scene in the city and bearing witness to the students’ learning journey during HKICF.
