Myra Chih’s passion for choir music started in her childhood when she was a member of the Hong Kong Children Choir. In the following years, she stepped into leading roles first as a choir master, and then as a lecturer, teaching choir conducting, at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.

In parallel with her interest in choir music, Myra is an accomplished Soprano, and has given solo recitals and performed in musical productions in America, Mainland China and Hong Kong and Taiwan. Her career path as a performer flourished after she pursued advanced studies in Philadelphia, USA, where she obtained a Masters degree in Voice Performance from Temple University. During her stay in America, she performed on stage and received acclaim for her solo recitals major operatic roles. In 1991, she was able to expand her operatic range when she won a scholarship awarded by the Italian Consulate to study classical singing in Rome. In Italy, she had the privilege of being the private pupil of vocal maestros of international renown, including Moscucci, Malagride and Morelli. Since her return to Hong Kong, she remains passionate about singing, and has enjoyed interpreting various roles and participating in solo performances, such as a concert attended by world leaders in Beijing, at the 2001 World Economic Forum.

In addition to performing, Myra is dedicated to passing on to the next generation her passion for and knowledge of music and the beauty of the human voice through both teaching and conducting. Her conducting tenure with the Hong Kong choirs Pro Musica and Brio stands as a significant part of her artistic leadership.She has been an adjunct lecturer at the music schools of several universities (notably Hong Kong University, Hong Kong Chinese University and Kingston University in HK). She has given master classes and has promoted music programs for the Music Office. She has been an adjudicator at several music competitions, including the Macau School Music Festival. And, from time to time, she gives private lessons to a few serious musicians and music enthusiasts.
