Hilary Kwan

Artistic Coordinator

Hilary Kwan graduated with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours at Royal Holloway, University of London, specialising in Solo Performance (Voice). She was taught by Elizabeth Byrne in Royal Holloway, and was awarded the Alice Dougherty Chaplin & Woodward Prize for the most outstanding final-year solo recital. She actively participated in productions such as Pergolesi’s Stabat mater dolorosa and Mozart’s arias during the university’s annual PLAY! Festival, New Voices Consort under the direction of Nathan James Dearden, and has participated in masterclasses by Lynton Atkinson and Rosa Mannion. Hilary was awarded a choral scholarship with the Choir of Royal Holloway, with notable highlights including being a soloist in Handel’s ‘Messiah’ among other engagements, such as weekly concerts and album recordings of music by Eleanor Daley, Cecilia McDowall, and Dan Locklair, as well as BBC broadcasts and concert tours to France and Wales.

Hilary’s musical journey began in Hong Kong, where she served as Soprano section leader in the Sacred Heart Canossian College Choir and her potential was recognised by the college as she was awarded two scholarships. Hilary studied with Joanne Shao and achieved the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 Singing with distinction. In 2019, she participated in the 4th European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations and was obtained Gold Medal in two categories.
