Participants will gain firsthand insights into the thought process behind developing a high-performing choral program, taking it from the formative stage to the big stage with minimal resources.
From repertoire selection to fundraising, this session will provide participants with tried-and-tested tips on how to navigate an environment with multiple challenges. Ken will also share some of the choral repertoire he used in developing the Nairobi Chamber Chorus, transforming it into one of the most successful choral groups in Kenya today.

About Ken Wakia
Ken Wakia has cultivated a rich and diverse career integrating music-making, cultural diplomacy, and education. A Fulbright Scholar, he holds a master’s degree in choral conducting and previously served as the Cultural and Educational Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi. Driven by a vision to empower young Kenyans, Ken founded the Nairobi Chamber Chorus, which has since performed globally, including with “World of Hans Zimmer” productions. A passionate advocate for music as a tool for global change, he co-founded the AVoice4Peace project, which promotes non-violent conflict resolution through choral music. His impactful career has earned him recognition as one of the top 100 most influential people in Africa.
