This workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of the diverse landscape of contemporary Chinese choral compositions. Participants will gain insights into various genres of Chinese choral music, including an examination of the most active and acclaimed composers and their distinctive styles. A particular focus will be placed on the vocal techniques and stylistic nuances essential for interpreting ethnic Chinese choral works.

Designed primarily for Hong Kong choral directors, the workshop aims to provide a thorough introduction to the prevailing genres of Chinese choral music. These include the rich tapestry of ethnic choral works, the poetic beauty of choral settings of ancient Chinese poetry, and the dynamic energy of choral arrangements of popular songs. Specific compositions by renowned composers such as Liu Xiaogeng (劉曉耕), Pan Xingzimin (潘行紫旻), Wen Yuquan (溫宇川), Guan Yu (官宇), She Qian (佘謙), and Wu Hao (吳昊) will be discussed, rendering the workshop particularly beneficial for educators and directors working with middle and high school choirs.

As co-founder of the Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir (深圳市高級中學百合合唱團), Ms. Hu Manxue has led the Lily Girls Choir in domestic and international performances, earning multiple awards.
