Omarr Cheng is a graduate who studied music at Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in Voice. He is currently the Assistant Conductor of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival. Since 2015, he has studied voice under the guidance of Mr. Jimmy Chan and achieved Grade 8 Voice from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in 2016 with distinction. Throughout his secondary education, Omarr actively participated in the Hong Kong Music Festival and won prizes in the vocal solo category. During his studies, he was awarded the Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund Undergraduate Scholarship and The Hong Kong Children’s Choir Music Scholarship.

Starting in 2012, when he joined the school choir in secondary school, Omarr has consistently engaged in various music ensembles. He served as a chorister of Cantoría Hong Kong, performing in Duruflé’s “Requiem” and Poulenc’s “Gloria”; and the chorister of the SingFest Choral Academy, performing in “Bach im Theater: St. John Passion”. His passion for choral conducting is evident through his roles as the associate conductor in the HKBU Christian Choir and the conductor of the HKBU Staff Choir during his university studies. In 2023, Omarr had the opportunity to showcase his talent as a student conductor, performing with Cantoría Hong Kong in the Cantoría Student Conducting Project.
