Raymond studied at Grantham College of Education, Sterling University (Scotland) and The Royal School of Church Music (UK). Raymond was for various periods conductor of many choirs such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus, the Academy for Performing Arts Choir and the Hong Kong Chorus. Over the years, he has been actively involved in more than 38 operas and musical productions.
Raymond was the music head of his almer mater, St Paul’s College, for 32 years before retirement in 2013. He is at present Music Advisor of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, Diocese of Hong Kong Island; Emeritus Choirmaster of St John’s Cathedral and Assessor to the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. He is also a council member and Jury of the “World Choir Games”, the biggest choral festival in the world. Since then, he was among the international jury panel in China, USA, Vietnam and Latvia. In 2015, he founded Opera Prima Society of HK, a charitable organization which focuses on fundraising musical events in support of humanitarian groups globally. His recent accolade includes the award of Associate of Royal School of Church Music (October 2016), the first Chinese to have received such honor.
